Power Strips

Last week I talked about finding ways to save electricity and yet I love a good power strip. I am very guilty of having too many things plugged in and a good power strip helps me power up all my electronic goodies as well as protect them from power surges.

I'm going to feature three different power strips that you might find useful based on your needs. If you simply need a basic strip (less than $15), the Monster Cable MP AV600 Power Protector gives you six outlets. I have several of these in our office and love them. A step up in both size and price (around $27) is the Monster Cable AV 800 PowerCenter. It has eight outlets, with some of them spaced farther apart to handle the bigger plugs that are all too common. For those wanting a really good strip for their equipment, check out the Monster Power HD PowerCenter 850 with Green Power. Not only does it provide multiple outlets and surge protection, it can also shut off some of your devices when they aren't in use so that they aren't using unnecessary electricity. It costs more at $99.95, but could end up saving you much more on your electric bills.
