The Yahoo! Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing, and Creating Content for the Digital World
I'm a firm believer that anyone doing any amount of writing should have a style guide to aid in making sure everything is consistent. Existing style books like the Associated Press Stylebook and the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications have good information, but they don't really apply to those creating content for the Web.If you are creating online content, you might want to get a copy of The Yahoo! Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing, and Creating Content for the Digital World. It addresses the issues that will make sure your text is clearly written and effective. The book is being released today and I'll be ordering a copy for myself so that I can improve the quality of writing in this blog and elsewhere.
According to the book's description, it will address the following issues: shape your text for online reading; construct clear and compelling copy; write eye-catching and effective headings; develop your site's unique voice; streamline text for mobile users; optimize webpages to boost your chances of appearing in search results; create better blogs and newsletters; learn easy fixes for your writing mistakes; and write clear user-interface text.
I'm really excited to get my hands on this book as I feel it will have a lot of great information. If you write any online content, you should consider a copy for yourself.
