Photomatix for HDR
In the last few weeks I've given you a number of options for creating HDR images. Previously I've covered ReDynamix which provides a low-cost option. There are two free packages, Luminance and PictureNaut. And there has been a couple of high-end options, HDR Efex Pro and AKVIS HDRFactory. Today we're going to look at Photomatix, a utility that has been around as long as anything for HDR.
There are two flavors of Photomatix, a Pro version ($99) and an Essentials version ($39). Free trials are available so you can give it a test drive before buying. Both run as standalone programs and can also be used as a plug-in in various applications (but not Corel PHOTO-PAINT). I highly recommend you look at the examples provided on the Web site so you can see the original images and the resulting HDR image created from them.
In all, I've covered six different software packages ranging from no price to a professional level price. If you have any interest at all in HDR imaging, one of the tools covered should fit your needs. If there are any packages I've missed, feel free to post a comment on the blog or on the Graphics Unleashed Facebook page.
