OCZ Technology RevoDrive Hybrid 1 TB Solid State Drive

I've talked at length about various SSD (solid state drives) hard drives in previous posts and even included one in my Dream Computer. The upside is they are lightning fast. On the downside, they can be expensive and have limited storage space.

Today I want to introduce you to the OCZ Technology RevoDrive Hybrid 1 TB Solid State Drive. This drive combines the flash memory of a SSD drive with a traditional mechanical drive on a card that you insert in your computer. Ideally this gives you a larger drive, with a price that isn't as painful and still with a lot of speed. There is even a rebate on it right now so you can get it for even less.

I'd love to tell you I've tried the drive, but I don't have the budget to buy every piece of cool hardware that comes along. One of my favorite computer magazines reviewed it very favorably and that convinced me to do some research on the drive. As of this writing, there are two reviews on Amazon and they are both brutal. My gut feeling leans towards this being a great drive and the two who reviewed it on Amazon were truly bad situations. For those looking for a very fast drive at a decent price, I think this drive is worth a look.
