Better Explorer for Windows 7

Before I tell you about a cool little addition for Windows, I will start with the small print. It will only work in Windows 7. While it can be used on 64-bit versions of Windows 7, the developers state that it may be a little slow since it is based on 32-bit DLL files.

OK, now let's go over Better Explorer. As the name suggests, it is a replacement for Windows Explorer. Don't confuse it with Internet Explorer as that is a Web browser. Windows Explorer and Better Explorer are what you use to look for files on your system. The interface of Better Explorer is very similar to what you will find in Windows 8. In short, it has added the ribbon control UI found in the last couple versions of Microsoft Office. Obviously Better Explorer isn't for you if you are not a fan of the ribbon interface. I wasn't a huge fan of it at first, but have really grown to love it.

Another feature of the Better Explorer interface is tabs so you can have multiple tabs open in a single window. There are certainly other features and the product page describes them all. It is free download, but I will re-iterate that you shouldn't try it if you aren't using Windows 7.
