List of Fonts Included With CorelDRAW X6 DVD
Let's take a closer look at the fonts. Corel claims a total of 1070 fonts are included and I find that number a bit misleading. There are 972 fonts stored individually on the disc. Technically there are another 98 fonts buried inside of the CAB files used by the installer. Those extra 98 fonts are duplicates of fonts that are stored separately.
There are also language-specific fonts for Greek, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. While those fonts are useful to some users, many of us will not have a need for them.
Don't worry, there is some really good news with regards to the files themselves. File names are no longer a bunch of unintelligible numbers. The file name for a font is actually the font name! There is an exception and that is the fonts stored inside of the installer. Those 98 fonts still use the silly old names with the unintelligible numbers. One more reason I don't count them as part of the total.
You'll also find that some of the fonts have been updated with larger character sets to take advantage of the new typography features in CorelDRAW X6. So even though the name of the font may seem the same as previous versions, it could be a much improved font. You'll definitely want to copy these fonts to your hard drive and get them cataloged in Bitstream Font Navigator. Please, please don't install all of them! I explained the reason for keeping the number of installed fonts to a reasonable number in Managing Your Fonts Can Speed Up CorelDRAW.
If you haven't already upgraded, this gives you one more good reason to consider CorelDRAW X6. Also remember that if you are using CorelDRAW X3 or earlier, you are only eligible for upgrade pricing until June 18, 2012. Make sure to upgrade before that date or you'll have to pay full price.
