Adding Clip Art and Photo Libraries to Corel CONNECT

Corel added a new tool in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 for searching artwork libraries. Since its debut, Corel CONNECT has undergone a number of changes. For users who keep multiple versions of artwork on their computers, Corel CONNECT X6 provides some ability to link to those libraries. As you'll see at right, I have been able to add more libraries.

To start the process, click on the blue information icon in the upper right of this graphic. You'll be presented with a screen that allows you to choose a version of CorelDRAW and identify where its content is stored on your system. This functionality is only available for CorelDRAW 11 and higher. So if you want to use older content libraries, your only choice is ROMCat. I didn't have the libraries for CorelDRAW 11 and 12 on my system so I didn't test adding them. I had mixed success with CorelDRAW X3 content as the photos were added with no problems while I couldn't find a way to get the clip art library to be recognized.

I was attempting to do this while working on the Corel CONNECT lessons for CorelDRAW X6 Unleashed. When working on CorelDRAW X5 Unleashed, I found no reason to use Corel CONNECT in my workflow beyond completing the lesson. I've come to the same conclusion after working with Corel CONNECT X6. Once the lesson is complete, I seriously doubt I'll open it again.
